According to a study by the University of Tennessee, fewer Tennesseans are without health insurance.
The government is examining various amendments to the insurance law, including a special statute for health insurance, aimed at improving the functioning of domestic companies and increasing their penetration.
The town of Weston’s employee unions have voted overwhelmingly to join the state’s health insurance program, effective July 1, 2009. This decision is estimated to save the town more than $1.8 million and the employees and retirees more than $1.2 million in annual health insurance costs.
The question of whether Braintree employees should participate in a state-run health insurance plan will be answered soon.
